The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially confirmed that there will be no price hike for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) application documents.

Nine Years of Price Stability
In its weekly bulletin released on Monday, January 5, 2026, the Board reassured parents, guardians, and candidates that it has maintained the same fee structure for nearly a decade. JAMB highlighted that, under the current administration, registration costs have actually been reduced to ease the financial burden on Nigerian families.
The Board emphasized that this decision aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to ensure government agencies adopt “human-face” policies that reflect current economic realities.
Key 2026 Registration Dates
To assist families with early planning, JAMB has released the official timeline for the 2026 exercise:
  • Sales Commencement: Friday, January 31, 2026.
  • Sales Deadline: Saturday, March 8, 2026.
“No Extensions” Warning
JAMB cautioned that the registration window will be strictly enforced. “The registration period will not be extended once it begins,” the Board stated, urging candidates to complete their profiles and documentation well ahead of the March deadline.
Prudence and Remittances
Despite keeping fees low, JAMB noted that it has remained a high-performing agency, continuing its tradition of making substantial remittances to the Federal Government. The Board attributed this to its commitment to accountability, transparency, and “prudent financial management.”
“JAMB remains committed to fairness, transparency, and affordability while sustaining global best practices,” the statement concluded.
