A communications expert and public servant, Segun Tomori, has formally declared his intention to contest the Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II seat in the House of Representatives under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement released in Abuja on Sunday, Tomori said his ambition is fueled by a desire to inject “fresh impetus and dynamic service” into the constituency’s representation.

Reflecting on his early political awakening, he traced his inspiration to Nigeria’s democratic struggle, particularly the June 12, 1993 presidential election. According to him, witnessing the optimism of that period—and the eventual annulment—left a profound impact on his outlook toward governance and civic engagement.

Tomori also acknowledged the influence of pro-democracy leaders, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu and activists from National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), noting that their sacrifices inspired him to join progressive politics as far back as 2010.

“I made a deliberate decision to align with Asiwaju Tinubu’s political family, even during its years in opposition, driven by its progressive ideals and the courage displayed during the June 12 struggle,” he said.

Highlighting his professional journey, Tomori pointed to over a decade of experience across both the legislative and executive arms of government, including his recent role as Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake. He said this exposure has equipped him with the institutional knowledge needed for effective lawmaking.

Unveiling his campaign, branded the “SET Campaign,” Tomori explained that it is anchored on three core values: Service, Excellence, and Trust. He also introduced an ambitious policy framework known as the “Eight Pillars of SET.”

The agenda focuses on key areas such as community health outreach, support for women and vulnerable groups, youth and sports development, education interventions, infrastructure upgrades—including a “Light Up Oshodi-Isolo II” initiative—and legislative reforms.

Tomori emphasized that his vision extends beyond constituency projects to shaping national policies that improve the lives of Nigerians.

“There is much work to be done through purposeful legislation—not only to improve the welfare of our constituents but also the lives of the average Nigerian,” he said.

Positioning himself as a bridge between experience and youthful innovation, Tomori expressed confidence in his ability to deliver impactful representation.

“I bring dynamism, fresh ideas, and a proven capacity to build consensus and achieve results, in alignment with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu. Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II is set for better representation,” he added.
