Sevilla head coach Luis Garcia Plaza has placed strong confidence in Nigerian striker Akor Adams as the club continues its battle to avoid relegation in LaLiga.

The Spanish side ended a difficult run of three consecutive league defeats with a 2-1 home victory over Atletico Madrid on Saturday night, a result that lifted them to 15th place on the table, just three points clear of the relegation zone.

Adams has emerged as a key figure for Los Rojiblancos this season, opening the scoring in a recent fixture against Barcelona and establishing himself as the club’s most reliable attacking threat.

The Nigeria international has now netted eight goals in 26 LaLiga appearances, making him Sevilla’s top scorer in the league campaign so far.

Impressed by the forward’s contributions, Garcia Plaza praised his importance to the squad and hinted that more is expected from him in the crucial run-in.

“Akor who still has more to give us because he’s capable, Rubén until his energy ran out… The academy players have to give us that extra energy, but everyone is important,” the coach said via the club’s official website.

With Sevilla still fighting to secure top-flight safety, the manager believes Adams’ form and attacking presence could prove decisive in the closing stages of the season.
