Bobby Williams Adeoye, son of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi, has revealed that he was not entirely surprised by his mother’s passing, recalling that she often spoke about death while she was alive.

Speaking during her service of songs, Bobby delivered an emotional tribute in which he described Omije Ojumi as a loving, caring, and strong woman who devoted her life to ensuring his success and wellbeing.

According to him, his mother’s presence filled their home with joy, laughter, and warmth, largely due to her cheerful personality and sense of humour—qualities he says he misses deeply since her passing.

“My mother was a very loving, beautiful, and caring person to me,” he said. “She was very, very strong. She would do anything to see me come first in anything, even in class. Anytime I came back from school, she always wanted to know what happened.”

Bobby described her constant encouragement and attention as the true mark of her love, calling her the best mother in the world to him.

Reflecting on the moment he learned of her death, he admitted that while the pain was overwhelming, the news did not completely shock him.

“When I heard she was dead, I was not that surprised because she had always been saying it,” he said. “She cracked jokes to make everyone lively, and that’s the main reason why I also miss Mommy.”

In a heartfelt message to his late mother, Bobby expressed his enduring love and assured her that she would forever remain alive in his heart and dreams.

“I know you’re dead right now, but you will always be alive in my heart and in my dreams. I love you, Mommy. May your soul rest in peace.”

Omije Ojumi, whose real name was Bunmi Akinaanu Adeoye, passed away on January 12, 2026. She leaves behind a rich legacy of gospel music, personal sacrifice, and unwavering dedication as a mother.
