Nigerian actor and Big Brother Naija alumnus Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has disclosed that he and his wife, Bamike Olawunmi Adenibuyan (BamBam), were not on speaking terms for two weeks before he proposed to her.
The couple made the revelation during a joint interview in which they also addressed long-standing public speculation that their marriage was solely motivated by BamBam’s first pregnancy.
BamBam firmly rejected the narrative. “Even about the pregnancy that people were talking about, saying that it was because of the pregnancy he married me. If Teddy did not want to marry me, there was nothing I was going to do about it,” she said.
Teddy A explained that the pregnancy became a turning point. He recalled that the couple had been fighting and not communicating for two weeks when BamBam informed him she was expecting their first child. “Do you understand that before I proposed to my wife, we were not talking for two weeks. We were fighting. Then when she told me she was pregnant, I felt that it was a sign… Now that she is pregnant, what do you want to do? Do you want to be responsible and man up,” he stated.
The pair married in a traditional ceremony on 7 September 2019 in Ogun State, followed by a white wedding on 16 November 2019 in Dubai. They are parents to two children.
In a separate 2020 interview, BamBam had previously shared that she experienced complications during the birth of their first child and later battled postpartum depression.
