Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has weighed in on parenting and the role fathers play in raising boys, arguing that mothers raising sons alone may face challenges in providing every aspect of guidance a boy needs while growing up.
Speaking on the Lahor Podcast, the actor maintained that fathers have an important role to play in the development of boys into responsible and well-rounded men.
Jim Iyke said he does not believe a single mother can independently raise what he described as a “complete man,” stressing the importance of a father’s presence and influence in a boy’s upbringing.
The actor also recounted an incident involving his son while they were visiting a beach in France.
According to him, his son was bullied by other children and later approached him to report the incident.
However, instead of immediately stepping in, Jim Iyke said he deliberately allowed his son to handle the situation himself.
He explained that his son eventually returned to confront the children and fought them before retrieving his ball.
Jim Iyke said the experience was part of how boys learn to stand up for themselves and deal with challenges.
He said: “There’s no single mother alive who can raise a complete man alone. At a beach in France, my son was bullied by other kids. He came to report to me, but I did nothing. He went back, fought them and took his ball back. That’s how boys learn.”
His comments have sparked discussions about parenting, fatherhood and the different roles parents play in shaping their children’s character and development.
