President Bola Tinubu’s allies have declared that his anticipated 2027 re-election campaign will be driven by the achievements of his administration rather than fresh campaign promises.
Speaking at a strategic stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Independent Campaign Group (PBAT-ICG), Tajudeen Olusi, said the administration’s record in office would serve as the foundation for seeking a second term.
According to Olusi, President Tinubu has implemented far-reaching economic reforms aimed at repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth, strengthening fiscal discipline and creating a framework for long-term prosperity.
He noted that the government has recorded significant progress in revenue generation, increased allocations to states and local governments, improved investor confidence and reduced reliance on borrowing for recurrent expenditure.
Olusi defended key policy decisions such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, describing them as difficult but necessary measures designed to stabilise the economy and attract investment.
He also highlighted several flagship programmes of the administration, including the Students Loan Scheme, Consumer Credit Scheme, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative, infrastructure projects, healthcare reforms, and renewed investments in agriculture and food security.
“President Tinubu’s 2027 campaign will not be built on empty promises but on concrete achievements that Nigerians can see and evaluate. The Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding positive results, and more benefits will become evident as ongoing reforms mature,” Olusi stated.
Also addressing participants at the meeting, PBAT-ICG Convener, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, said the Federal Government has intensified efforts to combat insecurity, boost crude oil production and expand social intervention programmes for vulnerable citizens.
Bamigbade maintained that the administration remains focused on building a resilient economy, creating employment opportunities for young people and ensuring inclusive national development.
He urged supporters of the group across the country to sustain grassroots mobilisation efforts and continue promoting the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The convener also threw his weight behind Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, describing him as a credible candidate capable of succeeding the current administration in the state.
Bamigbade further called on eligible Nigerians, particularly youths and first-time voters, to register and obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the next general elections.
“Democracy thrives when citizens participate. I therefore call on all Nigerians who are yet to register to ensure they obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and prepare to exercise their constitutional right in 2027. Every vote counts, and every Nigerian has a responsibility to contribute to the continued growth and development of our dear country,” he said.
Expressing optimism about the administration’s prospects, Bamigbade said continued public support and the successful implementation of ongoing reforms would strengthen President Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term in office.
