A political movement backing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, Bola Oyebamiji, has said the recent state visit of President Bola Tinubu to the United Kingdom marks a significant step in strengthening democratic values and combating terrorism.
The group, known as AMBO, made the assertion in a statement issued by its coordinator, Mayowa Olabisi, describing the visit as historic and strategically important for Nigeria’s global positioning.
According to the statement, Tinubu’s engagement at Windsor Castle, where he addressed an audience that included King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William and Catherine, Princess of Wales, underscores Nigeria’s growing influence on the global stage.
AMBO noted that the visit not only elevated Nigeria’s international profile but also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to deepening democratic governance and fostering global partnerships.
Olabisi said the meeting was particularly crucial in building alliances aimed at addressing transnational security challenges, especially terrorism across Nigeria and the West African sub-region.
“Tinubu’s administration is steadily repositioning Nigeria as a key player in international diplomacy. The outcome of the visit will translate into enhanced security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and economic collaboration,” he said.
The group further urged the Federal Government to sustain the momentum by ensuring that the gains of the visit lead to tangible improvements in national security and citizens’ welfare.
It also reaffirmed its support for policies geared toward strengthening democratic institutions and eliminating terrorism.
Looking ahead to the 2026 Osun governorship race, AMBO expressed confidence that Oyebamiji would draw lessons from Tinubu’s diplomatic engagements to attract investments from Nigerians in the diaspora, particularly those in the United Kingdom, to drive development in Osun State.
