Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has addressed allegations made by influencer Olawuni Oluwapelumi Abike, popularly known as Abike Shugaa, regarding her involvement in the movie Ijakumo.
The controversy began after Abike claimed in a viral video that she was paid N50,000 for her role in Ijakumo, only to later discover that her scenes were excluded from the final cut. She also alluded to her experiences working on other film projects.
Responding via her official X account on Friday, Abraham refuted the claims and provided clarification on the payments made. According to her, Abike received N500,000 for a role in Malaika and N50,000 for two scenes in Ijakumo, which were eventually removed during the editing process by the film’s director.
Abraham emphasized her track record of supporting up-and-coming talents in the industry, noting that the payment made to Abike for Malaika was generous for an emerging actress.
“I had decided not to speak because I see her like a daughter,” Abraham said, adding that she had even extended personal support beyond film roles.
Despite the public back-and-forth, the actress stated she would not engage further on the issue, concluding with a message of goodwill.
The development comes amid heightened public attention on Abraham, following her recent online clash with fellow Nollywood star Funke Akindele.
