The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has officially declared Chief Toyin Amuzu as its flagbearer for the House of Representatives election in Abeokuta South Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The announcement came on Sunday following the party’s primary election held at the Oke-Mosan State Secretariat, where Chief Amuzu emerged unopposed, receiving overwhelming support from both party leaders and members.

During the primaries, Mallam Bola Taiwo from Constituency 1 moved a motion affirming Amuzu’s widespread acceptance, which was seconded by Alhaji Isa Orunsolu from Constituency 2. Accreditation of members from all 15 wards in Abeokuta South Local Government was conducted by officials from Ewekoro and Ifo Local Governments, ensuring a transparent process.

The exercise was supervised by Prince Akeem Ade-Balogun of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with security provided by the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Department of State Services.

Shortly after his emergence, Chief Amuzu expressed gratitude to party leaders, members, and supporters, promising purposeful and people-oriented representation if elected. He pledged to prioritize quality legislation and impactful constituency projects designed to meet the needs of local communities.

“I will ensure full inclusion of citizens by facilitating needed legacy projects to the grassroots. Communities will determine their developmental priorities, and I will execute both government-backed and personal intervention projects,” Amuzu said.

Party supporters hailed his unopposed nomination as a strategic boost for the PDP’s chances in Abeokuta South ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasizing his commitment to inclusivity, accountability, and direct engagement with constituents.
