Fuji music legend, King Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam1, has demonstrated the traditional Yoruba culture of respect after prostrating before former President Olusegun Obasanjo during a performance at a royal celebration in Ogun State.
The veteran musician was performing at the 60th birthday celebration of the Olota of Ota, Oba Professor Abdulkabir Adewale Obalanlege, on Thursday when Obasanjo joined him on stage.
A video circulating on social media captured the moment the former president approached Kwam1 while the Fuji icon was performing.
On sighting Obasanjo, Kwam1 paused his performance, lowered himself to the floor and fully prostrated before the former president in the traditional Yoruba manner of greeting an elder.
Obasanjo subsequently walked towards the singer, patted him on the back and acknowledged the gesture before taking the microphone to address the gathering and felicitate with the royal celebrant.
The moment has attracted attention online, with many viewers praising Kwam1 for displaying a traditional Yoruba form of respect towards the former president.
Charly Boy Speaks on Obasanjo
Meanwhile, Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has described Obasanjo as a strong and fearless personality who believes in the possibility of a new Nigeria.
Charly Boy made the remarks in a post shared on his 𝕏 account, where he urged Nigerians not to mistake the former president’s laughter and relaxed demeanour for weakness.
The entertainer cautioned people against underestimating Obasanjo, describing him as bold and fearless.
In the post, Charly Boy also drew comparisons between himself and the former president while highlighting qualities he believes they share.
His comments come amid continued public discussions about Obasanjo’s personality, political influence and views on Nigeria’s future.
