The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Abeokuta South State Constituency II in the 2027 general election, Hon. Adeoye Adewale Adeniran, has said the party’s governorship candidate, Chief Oladipupo Adebutu, will prioritise stable electricity supply as a key strategy for driving economic growth, attracting investment and improving residents’ standard of living if elected.

Speaking during a meeting with party members and supporters in Abeokuta, Adeoye, popularly known as A3, urged politicians to embrace issue-based campaigns instead of engaging in personal attacks ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, reliable electricity remains critical to sustainable economic development, stressing that inadequate power supply has continued to hinder Ogun State’s industrial and commercial growth.

“Our campaign must remain focused on issues that matter to the people. We must not descend into abusive politics or exchange insults with the ruling All Progressives Congress. Elections should be about ideas, competence and practical solutions,” he said.

Adeoye stated that improving electricity supply would be one of the major priorities of an Adebutu administration, noting that stable power would reduce production costs, encourage industrial expansion and create employment opportunities across the state.

He also defended Adebutu’s distribution of transformers to various communities, describing the initiative as part of a broader plan to strengthen the state’s electricity infrastructure.

“It is not just about donating transformers; it is about strengthening electricity distribution infrastructure and ensuring more communities enjoy reliable power supply,” he said.

The PDP lawmaker hopeful noted that ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s electricity sector have created new opportunities for states to participate in electricity generation, distribution and regulation through partnerships with private investors and independent power projects.

He argued that Ogun State, as one of Nigeria’s leading industrial hubs, is well-positioned to take advantage of these reforms.

Adeoye recalled the PDP administration’s establishment of the mini-power plant at Oke-Mosan, saying the project demonstrated the party’s commitment to improving electricity supply.

“The PDP government had done it before with the mini-power plant at Oke-Mosan, and we saw the impact. I have no doubt that an Adebutu administration will explore every lawful opportunity to improve electricity supply for our people,” he added.

He further explained that stable electricity would significantly reduce the operating costs of small and medium-scale businesses that currently depend on petrol and diesel-powered generators.

According to him, artisans and entrepreneurs, including welders, tailors, hairdressers, ICT operators, printers and frozen food traders, would benefit from lower energy costs and increased productivity.

Adeoye also said improved electricity would enhance healthcare services by ensuring uninterrupted power for medical equipment, support digital education in schools and boost agro-processing activities across the state.

He maintained that the PDP’s development agenda offers practical solutions to Ogun State’s challenges, expressing confidence that Adebutu has the vision and capacity to transform the state’s economy through improved infrastructure and sustainable power supply.

He called on residents to support leaders with practical ideas capable of promoting industrial growth, expanding business opportunities and improving the welfare of the people.
