Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Sunday held a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi, and former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The meeting took place at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence inside the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL).

Makinde later confirmed the visit in a post on his Facebook page, stating that the discussions focused on key national issues ahead of the 2027 general election.

According to the governor, the delegation sought Obasanjo’s counsel at what he described as a crucial period in the nation’s history.

“Earlier today (Sunday), we visited Baba, His Excellency Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, in Abeokuta. Our discussions centred on important national issues in view of the upcoming general election. We appreciate Baba for his wise counsel at this crucial time in our nation’s history,” Makinde wrote.

Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 election.

Oyinlola is a prominent stakeholder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Fayemi remains a leading figure in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fayemi has recently made comments widely seen as critical of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the APC, prompting speculation over his political direction ahead of the 2027 general election.
