Minister of Works, David Umahi, has declared that the South-East geopolitical zone will adopt President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.

Umahi made the declaration during an inspection of ongoing federal road projects across Ebonyi State over the weekend.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Francis Nwaze, the minister said the South-East was deeply appreciative of the infrastructure projects being undertaken by the Tinubu administration.

“The South-East is very appreciative of what the President is doing. By Monday, under the leadership of the Governor of Ebonyi State, we will demonstrate this appreciation when we adopt the President as our sole candidate,” Umahi stated.

The minister highlighted several ongoing federal projects in the region, describing them as clear evidence of the administration’s commitment to inclusive development and infrastructure expansion in the South-East.

He further disclosed that the Federal Government had made provisions in the 2026 budget to connect a major road corridor to the Ebonyi State capital, a move he said would boost economic activities and improve transportation.

Umahi also assured contractors handling federal projects that outstanding payments would be settled, urging them not to suspend work despite delays.

“All contractors being owed will be paid. There should be no stoppage of work because we want to see if we can commission this project by December,” he said.

The minister maintained that the people of the South-East have taken note of the projects being delivered by the Federal Government and are prepared to publicly demonstrate their support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
