Presidential candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has called on party stakeholders and supporters in Osun State to remain united, loyal, and committed to securing victory in the forthcoming governorship election despite ongoing internal disagreements.
Olawepo-Hashim made the appeal after receiving the report of a seven-member committee established to assess recent political developments within the party in Osun State. According to him, the committee consulted widely with stakeholders before submitting its findings.
He urged members to reject anti-party activities, stressing that the future of the Accord Party in Osun would depend on the dedication and loyalty of its members rather than the actions of a few individuals.
Reacting to the recent actions of Governor Ademola Adeleke, whom he described as disloyal to the party, Olawepo-Hashim said he would not retaliate by engaging in conduct capable of weakening the party’s electoral chances.
“Governor Ademola Adeleke has obviously acted as a disloyal party man, but I will not respond by engaging in anti-party activities in Osun. Two wrongs do not make a right,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM), a support group for the Accord Party’s 2027 presidential candidate, dismissed reports that Governor Adeleke and some Accord Party officials had endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 presidential ambition.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the group described the reported meeting in Osogbo as an illegal and politically motivated gathering with no constitutional authority to determine the party’s presidential direction.
GHSM maintained that the Accord Party had already produced Olawepo-Hashim as its presidential candidate through a nationwide direct primary conducted on May 30, 2026, in accordance with the Electoral Act and the guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The group insisted that the outcome of the party’s primary could not be altered by any meeting, declaring that the mandate given to Olawepo-Hashim by party members remained valid.
“No beer parlour meeting in Osogbo can determine the presidential direction of the Accord Party. The mandate of Accord members given to Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim on May 30, 2026, cannot be traded inside any Government House,” the statement added.
