The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to host a global media briefing ahead of its 2026 National Convention, as part of efforts to showcase its preparedness for the high-stakes political gathering.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, who also serves as Co-Chairman of the convention’s Media and Publicity Committee, disclosed this during a committee meeting on Tuesday.
Idris said the press conference, scheduled for Thursday, will provide both Nigerians and the international community with key updates on the party’s level of readiness and expectations for the convention.
He called on committee members to work in unity, stressing the importance of discipline, sacrifice, and coordinated messaging in projecting the party’s image.
According to him, the APC must continue to demonstrate strong internal democratic principles, noting that its leadership remains committed to due process.
The convention, slated for March 27–28 in Abuja, is expected to serve as a major milestone in consolidating the party’s internal structures and reinforcing its democratic credentials.
Top government and party officials were present at the meeting, including the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga; Special Adviser on Public Communication and Orientation, Sunday Dare; Senate spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu; and House of Representatives spokesperson, Akin Rotimi.
Also in attendance was Arabinrin Aderonke, technical adviser on broadcast media to the NRS chairman, alongside other key committee members tasked with ensuring a successful convention.
Party insiders say the upcoming convention will play a critical role in shaping the APC’s direction ahead of future electoral contests.
