Amid the rise of various political support movements since the inauguration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the BAT Ideological Group (BAT-IG) has emerged as a leading intellectual force dedicated to institutionalising what it describes as the “Tinubu Legacy.”
Positioning itself beyond a conventional mobilisation platform, the group functions as a leadership academy committed to preserving and promoting the President’s progressive governance philosophy through structured scholarship and sensitisation programmes.
The BAT-IG set what it called a historic precedent on September 18, 2025, with the launch of its official handbook a document designed to serve as a guiding framework for its 36 state coordinators.
The unveiling reportedly attracted widespread international media attention, reinforcing the group’s ambition to project the administration’s “Renewed Hope” Agenda onto the global stage.
Described as a “compass,” the handbook outlines the administration’s core philosophies and milestone achievements, aiming to bridge the gap between campaign manifesto and policy implementation.
Supporters regard it as a foundational document for documenting and sustaining the President’s vision.
However, the group’s growing prominence appears to have inspired similar initiatives.
A newly formed movement has announced plans to unveil its own handbook in March 2026, highlighting 301 achievements of the administration.
The planned launch is timed to coincide with the President’s anticipated state visit to the United Kingdom a move observers interpret as an attempt to harness comparable intellectual momentum.
Political analysts note that Nigeria’s landscape has seen numerous advocacy groups emerge with ambitious blueprints, only to fade due to weak structural foundations.
Proponents of BAT-IG argue that what distinguishes the group is its emphasis on long-term institutionalisation rather than short-term optics.
Beyond publications, the organisation has pursued academic partnerships aimed at deepening its ideological footprint.
It recently announced a strategic collaboration with Lagos State University of Science and Technology to establish the BAT Institute of Governance.
A similar partnership with University of Lagos seeks to create the Centre for Politics, Policies, Accountability Bola Ahmed Tinubu Endowed Chair focused on leadership scholarship and policy studies.
According to the movement’s convener, Bamidele Atoyebi, the group remains unwavering in its mission to serve as both a leadership academy and political vanguard shaping Nigeria’s future.
While imitation may be viewed as a form of validation, BAT-IG supporters maintain that the organisation remains the foremost institutional platform dedicated to preserving and advancing the Tinubu legacy.
