Award-winning Nigerian singer, Davido, has shared how his wife, Chioma Rowland Adeleke, offered words of encouragement and wisdom following his loss at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards — marking his second Grammy defeat.

Davido’s track “With You”, featuring Omah Lay, was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category but lost out to South African sensation Tyla, who clinched the award with “Push 2 Start.”

The category saw strong Nigerian representation, with nominees including Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, Omah Lay and Eddy Kenzo. However, none of the Nigerian artistes emerged victorious on the night.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Davido disclosed that he initially felt discouraged and considered skipping the Grammy after-party. According to him, Chioma urged him to step out, reminding him of the importance of humility and grace.

“She said, ‘Be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. We’re outside,’” the singer wrote.

Davido later shared photos from their outing, expressing gratitude for his wife’s support and describing her words as a source of comfort during the moment.
