Nigerian businessman Olakunle Churchill has firmly dismissed reports suggesting he is divorcing actress Rosy Meurer, stating that no legally recognised marriage ever existed between them.

In a detailed statement shared via his Instagram page on Wednesday, Churchill described the circulating claims as false and urged the public to disregard them as misinformation.

According to him, their relationship never progressed beyond a traditional introduction ceremony, stressing that there was neither a court nor church wedding to legitimise the union. He argued that, in the absence of a formal marriage, any talk of divorce is unfounded.

“The reports circulating online about a supposed divorce between Roseline Meurer and me are completely false,” he said. “There was no legally recognised marriage… What took place was an introduction. Therefore, the idea of a ‘divorce’ is baseless from the outset.”

Churchill also cast doubt on reports of legal proceedings, noting that he had not been served any court documents and questioning the credibility of claims surrounding hearing and judgment dates. He criticised what he described as poor legal counsel allegedly influencing Meurer, taking a swipe at practitioners he accused of operating without due process.

The businessman further revisited past controversies involving his former marriage to actress Tonto Dikeh, revealing that both parties had privately reconciled and moved on from their differences. He emphasised that their issues were personal and should not have attracted external interference.

Addressing Meurer’s role during challenging periods in his life, Churchill rejected narratives portraying her support as extraordinary, stating that her presence should not be overstated.

His statement comes amid renewed public attention following a recent Instagram video by Meurer, where she reintroduced herself without using Churchill’s surname or wearing a wedding ring. In the clip, she described her return as a “rebirth” and a new phase in her career focused on growth and storytelling.
