A High Court has extended the interim orders earlier granted in favour of former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), in the ongoing dispute over his properties.

At the resumed hearing, the Court ordered that all parties in the matter should maintain the status quo pending further proceedings.

The presiding judge further advised both sides to explore the possibility of an amicable settlement rather than allowing the dispute to drag on.

Contrary to some media reports, the Court did not issue any order compelling parties to present documents. It was counsel to one of the parties, Barrister Olaotan, who made an application for the production of certain papers.

However, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Yinka Kotoye, countered the request, insisting that he would need to consult his client before any such step could be considered.

Barrister Kotoye, SAN, also raised a strong argument that all earlier notices issued in respect of the property should first be withdrawn before any meaningful discussion or settlement could take place, if at all.

He stressed that no party could be forced into submitting documents, underscoring that such a move would be outside the powers of the Court at this stage.

The case has now been adjourned, with the interim protection of OGD’s properties remaining in force.
