Chairman of the Dangote Group of Companies and Africa’s richest man, Mr. Aliko Dangote, has been accused of forcibly taking over properties, including four acres of land hosting a 35year Gas Station “with impunity and without regard to the rule of law.”
Dangote is accused of hiring armed thugs along with officials of Dangote Cement Plc, who allegedly without approval or any legal justification, broke into the property located at Ibese/Igbogila junction in Yewa Local Government of Ogun state.
The land with survey plan no. GCS191/OG/86 and Certificate of Occupancy (C. of O.) no. 00013962, registered on 28/9/1987, belonging to the Adeniji family of Oke-Village, Yewa north, Ogun state.
In a petition signed by Principal Partner of Ola, Ola& Co. Mr. S. O. Ola, solicitor to the Adeniji family and addressed to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dangote, Mr. Aliko Dangote, the complainant said “the land and petrol filling station and other properties were never sold to any persons be natural or artificial especially your humble-self and Dangote Cement Plc to warrant the said illegal invasion.”
They listed properties that were allegedly “wilfully damaged and vandalized away on their land” as petrol station, fence of the filling station and its gate, the building structure on the land, 3 petrol pumps, 3 surface tanks and 2 underground tanks.
Others are 2 motorcycles, 1 Tiger generator set, 2 motorcycle engines, 1 vulcanizer engine and 3 underdeveloped plots of land with its appurtenances.
“Our client especially Chief Amos Olu Odeyemi briefed us that the ungodly conduct and pains was occasioned on them and their inherited lawful properties so as to permanently rob them of their said four (4) Acres of land, their petrol filling station and other properties therein,” it said.
