Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has condemned the recent wave of killings in parts of Kwara State, warning that the continued loss of innocent lives has become intolerable and demanding immediate, concrete action from authorities.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the senator expressed deep sorrow over the attacks and extended her condolences to families and communities devastated by the violence, describing the situation as a direct test of the state’s responsibility to protect its citizens.

“The continued killing of innocent Nigerians is unacceptable,” she said. “Families are being torn apart by violence that should never be allowed to persist. Protecting lives and delivering justice must not be optional.”

Akpoti-Uduaghan urged the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to act decisively, stressing that repeated security assurances must translate into visible and effective action on the ground.

According to her, swift and credible investigations into the attacks are critical to restoring public confidence and deterring further violence.

“Those responsible must be found and held accountable. Failure to do so only reinforces a culture of impunity and leaves communities exposed,” she said.

The senator said security agencies and political leaders have both a constitutional and moral obligation to prevent further bloodshed, calling for intelligence-driven operations, stronger collaboration with local communities and proactive measures to address the root causes of insecurity.

“These killings are a painful reminder that our security framework must work for the people,” she added. “No Nigerian should live in fear in their own home.”

Her comments come amid growing public concern over persistent violence in several parts of the country, with citizens increasingly questioning the effectiveness of existing security responses.

Akpoti-Uduaghan reaffirmed her commitment to pursuing legislative measures aimed at strengthening national security, insisting that Nigeria cannot achieve meaningful progress while the safety of its citizens remains uncertain.
