Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, was reportedly arrested on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, shortly after arriving from Enugu aboard a chartered flight.
Sources said the former minister was taken into custody at the airport and is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning.
According to Premium Times, the ICPC has been investigating Nnaji over allegations that he forged his academic certificates.
The anti-corruption agency had reportedly been on his trail since he resigned from office last year following the commencement of the investigation.
Nnaji, however, has consistently denied the allegations.
His latest denial came after a recent Premium Times report on a court order connected to the ICPC’s ongoing investigation into the alleged certificate forgery.
Neither the ICPC nor Nnaji had officially commented on the reported arrest as of the time of filing this report.
