Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has reignited controversy with fresh claims that Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is allegedly working behind the scenes to dethrone the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

The allegation, which had previously been dismissed by Governor Makinde, the Olubadan, and the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) as baseless, resurfaced on Tuesday following a new statement by Fayose on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

In his post, Fayose insisted that unfolding political developments in Oyo State appear to support his earlier claims, urging observers to pay close attention to the situation.

“Those who are still in doubt about Governor Seyi Makinde’s plot to remove the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, should just keep their fingers crossed and follow unfolding events,” he wrote.

Fayose further pointed to what he described as a shift in narrative from key stakeholders, recalling that initial reports of a rift between the governor and the monarch were strongly denied.

According to him, recent accusations suggesting that the Olubadan is plotting to impeach Governor Makinde, along with claims of partisanship against the monarch, are part of a broader strategy.

He alleged that such statements are being orchestrated to justify possible disciplinary action against the traditional ruler.

Despite Fayose’s renewed claims, no official response has been issued yet by the Oyo State Government or representatives of the Olubadan regarding the latest remarks.
