Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Arsenal FC on winning the English Premier League, describing the victory as a testament to resilience, strategic leadership, and long-term commitment.

In a statement released Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku praised the players, coaching staff, and millions of supporters worldwide for what he called a “remarkable and inspiring achievement.”

“At Arsenal, success didn’t happen overnight. It’s the product of years of disciplined planning, bold decision-making, and the courage to stay the course even when the outcome seemed uncertain,” Atiku said. “These are the same principles that have guided my journey in public service and the private sector.”

Drawing parallels between the club’s transformation under a long-term footballing philosophy and his own economic vision for Nigeria, Atiku stressed the importance of institutional reforms and youth development. He highlighted his economic blueprint, which emphasizes private-sector-led growth, job creation, and unlocking national productivity.

“Like a well-managed football club, a nation must create an environment where talent can thrive, innovation is rewarded, and performance is sustained,” Atiku said. “Just as Arsenal invested in youth and a clear footballing strategy, Nigeria must invest in its people and reform its institutions to achieve meaningful progress.”

Arsenal’s Premier League success has ignited excitement among football fans globally, particularly in Nigeria, where the club enjoys a passionate following. Atiku recognized the loyalty of Nigerian supporters as “a reflection of the enduring Nigerian spirit—hopeful, resilient, and unbreakable.”

He encouraged Nigerians to remain patient and optimistic about the country’s future, noting that persistence, discipline, and belief in a mission produce results. “Arsenal’s triumph is a reminder that resilience and consistency lead to success. Nigerians should draw inspiration from this moment as we strive for a brighter and more inclusive future,” he added.

Looking ahead, Atiku urged Arsenal to aim for European glory in the UEFA Champions League. “Having conquered England, I encourage the team to pursue European success. The same determination that delivered the Premier League can secure a historic double. Millions of Nigerians are cheering you on,” he said.

He concluded by expressing hope that the club’s victory would inspire optimism, unity, and renewed purpose among Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
