The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared its full preparedness for the February 21, 2026 Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), assuring residents of a smooth and credible poll.

Speaking on Arise Television on Monday, the FCT INEC Administrative Secretary, Abimbola Oladunjoye, said the commission has concluded major logistical and operational arrangements ahead of Saturday’s vote.

According to her, non-sensitive materials have already been distributed to all Area Councils, while sensitive materials will be collected from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) on Thursday for immediate deployment.

“We are very ready for the election come Saturday, 21 February 2026. We have virtually done everything we need to do,” Oladunjoye stated.

She disclosed that ad hoc and permanent staff have been adequately trained, the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices have been configured, and updated voter registers printed and dispatched.

INEC’s assurance comes amid heightened public scrutiny of electoral processes nationwide, with the commission under pressure to deliver seamless polls following past technological and logistical challenges.
Residents of the FCT’s six Area Councils are expected to head to the polls on Saturday to elect their local government representatives.

With sensitive materials set for movement later this week, INEC says all systems are in place for a credible and hitch-free exercise.
