Nollywood actor Williams Uchemba has said he will not comment on the marital status or alleged children of late actor Alexx Ekubo, insisting that only the actor’s immediate family has the right to address such personal matters.
Speaking during a recent interview, Uchemba, who was known to be a close friend of the late actor, explained that he chose to respect Ekubo’s decision to keep aspects of his private life away from public scrutiny.
According to him, if Ekubo intentionally kept those details private while alive, it would be inappropriate for anyone else to disclose them after his death.
“Though I do not think I am in the place to say because if Alex did want it like that, I think I would respect it. I would respect his will and he wanted it that way,” Uchemba said.
The actor further noted that any official statement regarding the rumours should come directly from Ekubo’s family, stressing that some individuals prefer to keep their personal lives out of the public eye.
“If anything would come out from that, it would be his family. People have their decisions, some people would not want it out there or in the public. So, it is still best for his immediate family to say anything on it,” he added.
Uchemba’s comments come amid growing speculation on social media over claims that Ekubo may have had children.
Earlier, Ekubo’s family confirmed that the actor died at Evercare Hospital in Lagos after battling metastatic kidney cancer. The family also appealed for privacy as they mourn his passing.
During his career, Ekubo featured in more than 100 Nollywood productions, earning recognition as one of the industry’s notable actors.
