Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Task Force have arrested seven suspected robbers allegedly operating on top of the Bolade Bridge in Oshodi, Lagos.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed the arrests on Monday via a post on X, stating that the operation was carried out following actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance by security operatives.
According to Wahab, the suspects were apprehended during an early operation aimed at dismantling criminal activities around critical transport infrastructure.
Those arrested were identified as Samuel Olumide (19), Quadri Oladipupo (21), Ojo Ifabomi (23), Tunde Balogun (24), Dayo Badmus (21), Adegunlola Tayo (20), and Simon Michael (21).
“Earlier today, operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Task Force apprehended seven suspected robbers operating on top of the Bolade Bridge, Oshodi, following actionable intelligence and sustained surveillance,” Wahab said.
He explained that the arrests form part of the state government’s broader security and environmental enforcement drive targeted at reclaiming public spaces, safeguarding commuters, and restoring order around major transport corridors.
“This arrest is part of our ongoing effort to reclaim public spaces, protect commuters, and dismantle criminal activities that thrive around critical transport corridors,” the commissioner stated.
Wahab stressed that public infrastructure such as bridges, highways, and pedestrian routes must remain safe and accessible to law-abiding residents, and not be turned into hideouts for criminal elements.
The suspects, he added, have been taken into custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.
