The rich also cry. Some residents of upscale Lekki Gardens Phase 2, Adeniran Ogunsanya, Lekki, Lagos, have been plunged in total darkness as the estate managers cut electric services and withdrew security details from various posts, E24-7 MAGAZINE reports. The Friday incident is the height of a long drawn battle of supremacy between some home owners/tenants against the estate managers. Not less than 1, 600 houses, have been experiencing the blackout and water supply cut following the alleged high-handedness of the facility managers, who aggrieved residents claimed have been selling power units without authority.

Residents further alleged that the Richard Uyong-led management of the Lekki Gardens’ facility still claims he is the landlord after they have paid in full for their respective homes with offer letters in their custody. Some of the residents alleged the estate managers have refused them the use of generators or solar power to generate electricity, an action they claimed has just been introduced and not contained in the initial agreement when the various properties were purchased from Lekki Gardens.

As at the time of filing this report, residents are living in despair and exposed to hoodlums following the withdrawal of the services. In their efforts to secure their lives, residents have approached the Divisional Police Area Commander, Kayode Samuel to post policemen to the estate. The Area Commander assured the residents policemen would be on patrol to ensure adequate security of lives and properties.
