The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has announced a two-week extension of the deadline for filing individual annual tax returns, moving the date from April 1 to April 14, 2026.
In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Monsurat Amasa-Oyelude, the Executive Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, said the extension was granted to give taxpayers more time to file accurate and complete returns.
He noted that the statutory deadline remains March 31 annually but stressed the importance of compliance and timely filing as a routine responsibility for all taxpayers.
Subair also reaffirmed that electronic filing through the LIRS eTax platform remains the only approved method for submitting annual returns, as manual filing has been completely phased out.
Taxpayers are required to file their returns exclusively via the official portal at https://etax.lirs.net.
Describing the platform as secure, user-friendly, and accessible 24/7, he urged individuals to ensure their Tax Identification Number (TaxID) is correctly captured when submitting their returns.
The agency reiterated its commitment to improving tax administration and ensuring seamless compliance across Lagos State.
