Veteran Nollywood actress Fausat Balogun, widely known as Madam Saje, has spoken candidly about her fondness for attending parties, particularly those organised by younger actors in the film industry.
In a recent interview with African A-List, the seasoned actress addressed public criticism over her frequent appearances at social events, explaining that her attendance is driven by genuine support rather than mere entertainment.
According to her, she enjoys showing up for younger colleagues because it reminds her of her own early struggles in the industry. Madam Saje revealed that she once organised an event where many of those she invited failed to attend, an experience that left a lasting impression on her.
“That experience made me decide never to ignore people’s invitations, especially young actors whose celebrations are often overlooked,” she said.
The veteran actress also reflected on her challenging beginnings, disclosing that she once stole food to survive and acted in several films without receiving payment.
She noted that every career journey comes with its own struggles, urging young people not to rush success or attempt to “outrun their destiny.”
Instead, she advised patience, consistency, and faith in one’s own timing, stressing that everyone eventually gets their moment to shine.
