Social media personality Peller has ignited conversations online after surprising his partner, Jarvis, with a brand-new Mercedes-Benz GLE 450 for her birthday.
The luxury SUV, reportedly worth millions of naira, was unveiled in a now-viral video that captured an emotional Jarvis fighting back tears as she received the keys.
While many fans praised the grand romantic gesture, others criticised what they described as extravagant spending. Some social media users also drew comparisons to a previous car purchase Peller made for his mother, questioning his priorities.
Responding to the backlash in a follow-up video, Peller dismissed the criticism and maintained that the gift was both intentional and deserved.
“My mom wanted a Toyota worth ₦9 million, but I bought her a Hyundai worth ₦20 million instead. People would still have dragged me even if I’d bought her the ₦9 million Toyota,” he said.
He further stressed that the gift was not an attempt to secure Jarvis’ loyalty but an expression of love and appreciation.
“Am I the first person to buy his girlfriend a car? I love my baby. I didn’t buy Jarvis a car just so she can stay with me; she deserves it. I don’t care if she leaves me later. If Jarvis gives me a child, I’ll do even more than this,” Peller added.
The development has continued to generate debate across social media platforms, highlighting the scrutiny that often accompanies public displays of wealth by influencers and celebrities.
