Okafor’s arrival at the Yaba-based department followed his failure to honor a formal police invitation scheduled for Monday morning. Sources indicate the “Liberation City” preacher was warned by “highly placed persons” that continued defiance of a lawful police summons from Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh would lead to forceful arrest.
The investigation into Okafor has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian religious community. He faces a mountain of harrowing allegations from multiple women, including:
- Sexual Abuse & Hypnosis: Claims from three siblings within his congregation who allege they were hypnotized and impregnated.
- Abuse of Authority: Public call-outs by his Cameroonian ex-wife and his own daughter.
- Alleged Murder: Weighty accusations linked to the death of the younger brother of his estranged lover, actress Doris Ogalla.
The scandal reached a boiling point after Ogalla accused Okafor of sharing her nudes, breaching a marriage promise, and attempting to bribe her with $10,000 to frame a rival pastor for the scandal. Ogalla, who was previously detained at AIG Zone 2 Command in Onikan following a petition by Okafor, is now demanding ₦1 billion in damages.
Despite the gravity of the claims, Okafor was not detained following his Tuesday interrogation. A senior police officer explained that because an active investigation is already ongoing at Zone 2 Command involving the same parties, the Lagos Command will “stand down” to avoid procedural conflict.
The scandal has already cost Okafor his position. Although he initially dismissed the claims as “the handiwork of enemies,” he recently admitted to some of the allegations and stepped aside as the senior pastor of his church, just weeks after marrying his new bride, Pearl, on December 16, 2025.
