Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, at the Government House in Ibadan.

The high-level meeting, which took place away from the public eye, was attended by a delegation that included Igbo elders, senators from the South-East, members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and close political associates of the former Anambra State governor.

Although details of the discussions remain undisclosed, political observers believe the engagement may be linked to Obi’s ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The meeting comes less than 24 hours after Obi’s separate engagement with former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, further fueling speculation about his intensifying nationwide political outreach.

Sources within political circles suggest Obi has been actively engaging key stakeholders across the country as part of strategic moves leading up to the ADC primary election.

As of the time of filing this report, Obi had yet to brief journalists on the outcome of the meeting, leaving room for continued speculation over the implications of his recent political engagements.
