National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, acknowledged the outcome of the election, saying the people of the state had spoken through the ballot and their decision must be respected.

In a statement on Monday, he urged Adeleke to see his re-election as a renewed mandate to unite Osun, promote development and govern with fairness, humility and responsibility to all citizens, regardless of political affiliation.

“I congratulate Senator Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as the Governor of Osun following the governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026,” Aregbesola said.

He also commended the people of Osun for their participation in the electoral process and praised ADC members for remaining committed to the party despite what he described as an intensely competitive political environment.

Aregbesola particularly applauded the ADC governorship candidate, Najeem Folasayo Salaam, for the maturity with which he accepted the election result.

According to him, Salaam conducted his campaign with dignity and demonstrated that politics should focus on ideas, competence, character and service to the people.

The ADC national secretary said the party’s members and supporters should not allow the election outcome to end their political engagement, urging them to remain committed to good governance, accountability, justice and competent leadership.

He also called on ADC members to preserve the relationships built during the campaign and continue to engage constructively with the government while providing responsible alternatives where necessary.

Aregbesola further urged Adeleke to extend a hand of fellowship to all political groups and make his second term more inclusive.

“I urge Governor Adeleke to extend the hand of fellowship to all political tendencies and to make the next chapter of his administration one of greater inclusion, reconciliation and service to all,” he said.

He called on the ADC to remain united, stressing that political journeys extend beyond individual elections.

Aregbesola concluded by wishing Adeleke wisdom, good health and success as he begins another term in office.
