Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, following a late-night operation that led to a confrontation with their abductors.

The victims were freed around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, after days of intelligence gathering and coordinated tactical operations by security agencies.

Mrs John-Paul, who is the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, was abducted alongside her children on June 3 while travelling to drop the twins off at school.

According to security sources, sustained intelligence tracking and pressure mounted on the kidnappers forced them into a gun battle with police operatives during the rescue mission.

Two suspected members of the kidnapping gang were killed during the exchange of gunfire, while security operatives recovered two firearms from the scene.

The victims were rescued unharmed, with no injuries reported during the operation.

Sources disclosed that the successful mission was the result of days of surveillance and intelligence-led operations aimed at locating the kidnappers and securing the safe release of the victims.

Meanwhile, security agencies have launched a manhunt for other members of the kidnapping syndicate who reportedly fled the scene during the confrontation. Some of the escaping suspects are believed to have sustained gunshot wounds.

Police authorities have yet to issue a detailed official statement on the operation, but investigations are ongoing as security operatives intensify efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
