Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has lauded the successful rescue of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, describing the operation as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s fight against insecurity.

The victims, who were kidnapped on May 15, regained their freedom after spending more than 55 days in captivity.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Sanwo-Olu described the rescue as a clear demonstration of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to protecting the lives of Nigerians and tackling the country’s security challenges.

The governor commended the coordinated efforts of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and other security agencies whose joint operation led to the successful release of the victims.

Sanwo-Olu also expressed solidarity with Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Ogbomoso, saying the rescue had brought relief to the affected families and restored confidence in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity across the Southwest and Nigeria as a whole.

According to him, the successful operation is a major boost to the administration’s security drive and a source of renewed hope for citizens.

ā€œThe rescue is a big relief and shows the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to the war against insecurity.

ā€œI commend the tireless efforts and resilience of our gallant security operatives who made this possible. I equally rejoice with the people of Oyo State, particularly the residents of Ogbomoso, on this great news,ā€ Sanwo-Olu said.
