His Excellency and the former Governor of Ogun State, and the Senator representing the people of Ogun East Senatorial District at the Red Chamber, Otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD), has been honoured with a Public Service Excellence Award in appreciation of his efforts in uplifting TAI-SOLARIN COLLEGE OF EDUCATION TO TAI-SOLARIN UNIVERSITY OF EDUCATION which laid the solid foundation for raising its status to a Federal University recently by the President and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The award was given by the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators-Eminent Personality Forum, TASUED CHAPTER on Monday, August 25,2025, at Ijagun.
While receiving the award on behalf of the People’s Senator-OGD-, Dr. Comrade Niyi-Osoba reiterated that Senator Gbenga Daniel was bestowed with the award of honour because of his contributions to the growth and development of the ivory tower and his meritorious contributions to the public service.

At the ceremony was the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Oluwole Banjo, and the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Federal University of Health and Sciences, Azare, Bauchi Sate, Hon Dr. Samuel Babatunde Adejare was the chairman of the occasion.
In the same vein, Barr. Kayode Oladele, the acting chairman, Federal Character, Abuja, was the guest speaker whilst Otunba Segun Sowunmi, a political stalwart and public analyst and Prof. Obatunde Bright Adetola of Olabisi Onabanjo University and Ago-Iwoye were discussants.
Mr. Oladapo Oke, the University Registrar, and other principal officers were also present at the occasion.
Also, in attendance were Comrade Yomi Obasan, the chairman ANUPA and ASUU Chairman, Associate Professor Adewale Ositoye.
This award of excellence, among other laurels, is a testament to Senator otunba Gbenga Daniel (OGD)’s selfless, charismatic character laced with a political leadership that promotes and supports the welfare of the people and above all, his contributions, and legacies of infrastructural growth and development in Ogun East Senatorial District, Ogun State and Nigeria as whole.
