President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm birthday greetings to former Abia State Governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, commending his lasting contributions to national development and public service.
In a statement released Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described Kalu as a dedicated public servant whose influence cuts across governance, legislation, and the private sector.
Tinubu noted that during his tenure as Abia State governor from 1999 to 2007, Kalu demonstrated strong commitment to the growth of the state and the welfare of its citizens.
Highlighting his legislative impact, the President pointed to Kalu’s role in the National Assembly, where he previously served as Chief Whip and now chairs the Senate Committee on the Southeast Development Commission (SEDC). The commission is one of the regional intervention bodies established to accelerate development across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
According to Tinubu, Kalu’s leadership of the SEDC aligns with the administration’s broader agenda of fostering inclusive growth and addressing infrastructure and development gaps in the Southeast region.
He further praised the senator’s “vision, resilience, and industry,” noting that his commitment to the progress of Abia State and Nigeria at large remains significant.
Beyond politics, the President also acknowledged Kalu’s role in the business sector as Chairman of SLOK Holding, describing him as a media entrepreneur whose investments continue to generate employment and stimulate economic activity.
Tinubu concluded by wishing Kalu long life, strength, and wisdom as he continues to contribute to national development.
