Nigerian content creator and skit maker Carter Efe has explained his approach to supporting major music stars in the country, stressing that his loyalty is no longer fixed to any single artiste.
Speaking in an interview with TVC News, Carter Efe said past experiences taught him not to permanently align himself with one camp. He pointed to his earlier decision to remain with one artiste, which he said ended badly and shaped his current stance of moving freely between different musicians.
The skit maker also addressed the continued use of the moniker “Machala,” a name long associated with Afrobeats star Wizkid. According to Carter Efe, the name has become closely linked to him in public perception. He claimed that when people call out “Machala” on the streets, they are now referring to him rather than Wizkid.
“I am not in any place because the last time I said let me be in one place, the person poured spit on my face and that is Wizkid. How? If you call Machala on the street now, I am the Machala and not Wizkid. I am telling you fact,” he stated.
Carter Efe further declared unwavering support for fellow music star Davido. He described the singer as a father figure and helper, noting that he had spoken with him only a day earlier.
“I will never in my life betray Davido. Davido is my daddy, Davido is my helper. I still called him yesterday and he picked my call. Who am I? All the way from Delta State? It’s just grace,” he added.
The remarks have drawn attention amid ongoing conversations around fan bases, loyalties, and rivalries within the Nigerian music and entertainment scene.
