Haiti and Turkey have become the first countries to be eliminated from the ongoing FIFA World Cup after suffering consecutive defeats in the group stage.

Haiti was the first team to be mathematically knocked out of the tournament following a 3-0 loss to Brazil in Philadelphia on Friday.

The defeat left the Caribbean nation without a point after two matches in Group C, ending any hopes of advancing to the Round of 32.

Haiti had earlier opened its campaign with a narrow 1-0 defeat to Scotland, leaving the team rooted to the bottom of the standings.

Turkey also saw its World Cup journey come to an early end after falling 1-0 to Paraguay in its second group match.

The result confirmed Turkey’s elimination, having previously lost its opening fixture against Australia. With two defeats from two games, the European side can no longer secure qualification from the group stage.

Although already out of contention, Turkey will complete its campaign with a final group match against the United States.

The exits of Haiti and Turkey mark the first confirmed eliminations of the tournament as the race for places in the knockout rounds intensifies.
