Actor Joseph Momodu has announced his enlistment in the United States Army after successfully completing 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Sharing the milestone in an Instagram post on Friday, Momodu revealed that he had been out of contact throughout the demanding military training, describing the experience as one of the toughest challenges of his life.

“From inception, I have always believed in achievements earned through merit, which is why I constantly push myself beyond limits. Ten weeks of being incommunicado. Ten weeks of learning to find comfort in discomfort,” he wrote.

Momodu confirmed that he now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood.

Reflecting on the rigorous programme, the actor said the training tested his physical endurance and mental strength through long days, sleepless nights, fatigue and harsh weather conditions.

“This particular one was forged through tears, fear of failure, resilience, endless days, short nights, fatigue, rain and the scorching sun. There were moments of doubt and times I questioned myself, but I never lost sight of the finish line. We trained tirelessly, were broken down and rebuilt,” he said.

According to him, the programme transformed him from a civilian into a soldier in just 10 weeks.

“I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he added.

Momodu said his decision to enlist was inspired by his late father, who served in the Nigerian Police Force before his death two decades ago.

He disclosed that he officially joined the US Army on April 12, 2026, describing the enlistment as a continuation of his father’s legacy.

“Twenty years after his passing, I picked up the baton where he left off in the Nigerian Police Force and carried it forward by getting enlisted into the United States Army,” he wrote.

The actor also expressed gratitude to God for enabling him to pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) examination on his first attempt and complete Basic Combat Training without any setbacks.

He further thanked the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, as well as the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for their support throughout the enlistment process.

Momodu also acknowledged those who stood by him during the journey, including the individual who managed his social media accounts while he underwent military training.

“I dedicate this achievement first to God Almighty for the grace to pass my ASVAB on the first attempt and successfully complete Basic Combat Training. Secondly, to my late father, whose legacy I proudly uphold. Finally, I appreciate the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II, the Avyuele Clan, Agbede, Etsako West, Edo State, and the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for making this transition possible,” he concluded.
