A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence that the party will unseat the incumbent administration in Osun State in the upcoming governorship election scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking on the political outlook ahead of the polls, the APC figure claimed that Governor Ademola Adeleke will be voted out of office, insisting that growing grassroots support across the state signals an impending victory for the party’s candidate.
He argued that the APC remains strongly positioned in Osun State, stating that internal mobilisation and expanding support bases would secure electoral success. He also declared confidence in the party’s broader national strength under President Bola Tinubu.
“Nigeria Not Becoming a One-Party State” — APC Stance
Responding to concerns about increasing defections to the APC, the politician dismissed fears that Nigeria is drifting toward a one-party system.
He maintained that Nigeria remains constitutionally a multi-party democracy, as recognised by the country’s legal framework and the Independent National Electoral Commission Independent National Electoral Commission.
According to him, recent defections from opposition parties into the APC are driven by confidence in the ruling party’s policies and governance direction, rather than a weakening of democracy.
Senate Ambition Driven by Constituents’ Calls
The APC aspirant, who is seeking to represent Osun West Senatorial District, said his decision to contest was influenced by persistent calls from his community in Iwo and surrounding areas.
He said his goal is to provide stronger legislative representation for Osun West Senatorial District, stressing that constituents have long been underserved in terms of development and political inclusion.
Legislative Vision and Governance Priorities
Outlining his priorities, he pledged to focus on people-centred legislation, oversight functions, and constituency development. He emphasized job creation, infrastructure development, empowerment programmes, and improved welfare systems as key focus areas if elected to the National Assembly.
He also expressed support for Nigeria’s federal structure, describing it as the most suitable system for the country’s diversity despite its cost implications.
Addressing Security Challenges
On insecurity, he argued that tackling Nigeria’s security challenges requires collective responsibility from citizens, government, and security agencies.
He called for improved intelligence sharing, better equipment for security operatives, and stronger civic responsibility in reporting criminal activity.
Confidence in APC’s 2027 Outlook
The politician also expressed optimism about the APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, insisting that the party and President Tinubu are enjoying widespread national support.
He credited ongoing economic and governance reforms for strengthening the party’s appeal, adding that improved state revenues and federal interventions are signs of progress under the current administration.
