Fulham’s London derby against Brentford ended in concern rather than celebration after midfielder Alex Iwobi was forced off with an injury on Saturday.
The Nigerian international appeared to pull his hamstring shortly before half-time and was visibly uncomfortable as he left the pitch. He was replaced by fellow Super Eagles teammate Samuel Chukwueze as Fulham reshuffled their midfield.
The match marked Iwobi’s 255th Premier League start, underlining his experience and importance to Marco Silva’s side. However, the injury now casts doubt over his availability during a crucial stage of the season.
Fulham boss Marco Silva will be anxiously awaiting updates on the 29-year-old’s condition, with the club still chasing European qualification.
Despite the setback, Iwobi has enjoyed a productive campaign so far, contributing four goals and three assists in 27 league appearances for the Cottagers.
