Iran has sharply criticized the rhetoric of United States President Donald Trump, with Tehran accusing him of making inconsistent and overly aggressive statements amid already strained relations between the two countries.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum in Turkey, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh said the US president’s recent remarks lacked clarity and contained contradictions within the same message.
Khatibzadeh specifically responded to Trump’s warning that the United States could resume bombing operations if no agreement is reached with Iran by Wednesday, calling the statement confusing and excessive.
“The US president talks too much. He said contradictory things within the same statement. I don’t know exactly what he meant,” he said.
He reiterated that Tehran is not seeking confrontation and emphasized that military conflict would bring no meaningful benefit to any side. However, he stressed that Iran remains fully prepared to defend itself if attacked.
The remarks come at a time of heightened uncertainty between Washington and Tehran, with both sides exchanging increasingly sharp rhetoric. The situation has fueled concerns among observers about the risk of further escalation in an already volatile Middle East landscape.
