The Senior Pastor of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has defended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, against criticism over his perceived silence on national issues under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Suleman stated that claims suggesting Adeboye protested against the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan are inaccurate.
According to him, the prayer walk held during Jonathan’s tenure was not a protest initiated by Adeboye but a directive from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in response to the security and economic challenges facing the country at the time.
The cleric made the clarification while addressing members of his congregation in Auchi, Edo State, in a video shared on X.
Suleman criticized those attacking Adeboye for not organizing protests under the current administration, noting that the RCCG leader, who is 84 years old, should not be expected to participate in street demonstrations.
“There are some people attacking Daddy G.O., Pastor Adeboye, claiming that he protested under former President Jonathan but is not protesting under Tinubu.
“He did not protest then; it was the PFN that directed pastors and preachers to embark on a prayer walk. Do you expect a man of 84 years to come out and protest? I am a son of Adeboye, and if he is not speaking out, I am speaking out too,” Suleman said.
His remarks come amid growing public debate over the role of religious leaders in addressing Nigeria’s economic hardship and security concerns.
