Nollywood actress and filmmaker Fathia Balogun has criticised a blogger for spreading false claims of an alleged rift between her and fellow actress Funke Akindele, describing the reports as misleading and unnecessary.
The controversy followed Fathia’s birthday celebration on February 5, when Funke Akindele sent her a warm congratulatory message. Fathia replied courteously with the Yoruba phrase “Ose Iya Ibeji,” a response that was later misconstrued by a blogger as awkward, sparking speculation of tension between the two actresses.
Reacting during a live video session, Fathia dismissed the claims, insisting there is no bad blood between her and Funke. She accused bloggers of deliberately creating drama and pushing false narratives to generate online engagement.
According to her, Funke’s birthday message was sincere, and her response was respectful but misinterpreted. She warned bloggers to stop interfering in her personal and professional relationships, stressing that such speculation only fuels unnecessary controversy.
Fathia and Funke have previously been linked to rumours of tension, following reports that Funke once unfollowed and blocked Fathia over alleged unreciprocated appearances at events. However, Fathia maintained that the current claims are baseless and should be disregarded.
