Fidelity Bank Plc has strengthened its commitment to women’s economic inclusion by extending its flagship empowerment programme, “Give Her Power,” to Ikorodu in Lagos State, providing vocational tools to over 30 women to support their livelihoods.

The outreach, which represents the third phase of the initiative’s nationwide rollout, saw beneficiaries receive essential equipment including 12 sewing machines and 15 grinding machines. The recipients were drawn from Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West, and Ikorodu North Local Government Areas.

Speaking at the event, the Regional Bank Head, Victoria Island, Mr. Nnamdi Edekobi, representing the Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, said the programme is designed to deliver tangible and lasting impact.

According to him, the initiative goes beyond symbolic support by equipping women with practical tools to build sustainable businesses, generate income, and improve their household welfare.

Also addressing attendees, Fidelity Bank’s Divisional Head of Brand and Communication, Dr. Meksley Nwagboh, described the Ikorodu activation as a targeted intervention aimed at reaching underserved women at the grassroots.

He added that the bank plans to expand the programme across other regions, including the South-East, South-South, and Northern Nigeria, ensuring broader access to economic opportunities for women.

Nwagboh emphasized that empowering women financially creates a ripple effect that benefits families, communities, and the national economy.

The “Give Her Power” initiative, launched in Lagos through partnerships with organisations such as LUSH Hair, Barbergirl Academy School of Barbering, and others, is anchored on the bank’s HerFidelity Apprenticeship Programme. The programme offers vocational training, mentorship, business support, and access to enterprise opportunities.

Prior to the Ikorodu event, the initiative was held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, where 100 women received 50 sewing machines and 50 grinding machines at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.

The Ikorodu outreach also drew participation from key government and community leaders, including Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Prince Adedayo Ladega, and other LCDA chairmen.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Hassan Bukola from Ikorodu North LCDA, described the support as transformative, noting that the sewing machine she received would significantly improve her business and ability to support her family.

With its continued rollout, Fidelity Bank is positioning the “Give Her Power” initiative as a major driver of women’s empowerment and sustainable community development across Nigeria.

Fidelity Bank Plc currently serves over 9.1 million customers through its digital platforms, 255 business offices nationwide, and its UK subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited. The bank has also received multiple awards for innovation, SME banking, and digital transformation.
