A significant political realignment has taken place in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State following the formal declaration of Ademola Oyepeju Ara to contest for the House of Representatives seat in the 2027 general elections under the Accord Party.

The event, themed “Declaration to Victory,” held at Muslim Grammar School in Ibadan on Wednesday, drew a massive crowd of supporters, grassroots mobilisers, and political stakeholders, underscoring the growing momentum behind Ara’s ambition.

Speaking to journalists after the programme, Ara revealed that the gathering marked both his official defection to the Accord Party and his declaration to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.

According to him, the event witnessed a major political shift, with more than 10,000 supporters abandoning their former political affiliations to align with the Accord Party.

Ara also used the platform to voice concerns over what he described as increasing threats to Nigeria’s democratic system, warning against the idea of a one-party state. He stressed that such a move would undermine democratic principles and pluralism.

Outlining his legislative priorities, the aspirant pledged to deliver inclusive representation and people-focused policies aimed at tackling key developmental challenges in the constituency. He identified critical sectors such as education, healthcare, electricity, security, and skills acquisition as focal areas.

Addressing healthcare concerns, Ara highlighted the rising incidence of stroke among residents aged 45 and above, announcing plans to establish a specialised anti-stroke hospital to improve access to modern treatment.

On education, he lamented the absence of government-owned tertiary institutions in Oluyole, promising to facilitate the establishment of both a university and a polytechnic to expand opportunities for young people in the area.

Ara assured constituents of effective representation, stating that his goal is to sponsor impactful legislation that would not only benefit Oluyole but also contribute to national development.
