The ancient town of Ijebu-Ode once again came alive as thousands of sons, daughters and friends of Ijebuland gathered for the annual Ojude Oba festival, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated cultural events.

This year’s edition, themed “Celebrating the Legacy of Oba Sikiru Adetona,” showcased the rich traditions, vibrant heritage and enduring unity that have made the festival a cherished symbol of cultural pride.

From the early arrival of the Regberegbe age-grade groups dressed in colourful and coordinated aso-oke attire, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and anticipation. The renowned Balogun families also made their grand entrance on horseback, displaying the elegance and pageantry that have become a hallmark of the festival.

Across the festival grounds, families and visitors gathered under canopies, exchanging greetings, sharing laughter and creating lasting memories. The event served as a reunion point for generations, bringing together elders, youths and children in a celebration of identity and community.

Adding to the festive atmosphere was Maltina, which seamlessly became part of the celebration. Under the warm Ijebu sun, attendees enjoyed chilled bottles of the malt drink during conversations, horse-riding displays and family reunions. The brand also provided relaxation spots where guests could unwind and fully enjoy the day’s activities.

Rather than standing apart from the event, Maltina blended naturally into the moments of connection, joy and shared experiences that define Ojude Oba.

Speaking on the brand’s participation, Head of Non-Alcoholic Portfolio at Nigerian Breweries Plc, Elohor Olumide-Awe, said the festival reflects the values that Maltina represents.

“Maltina has always been a brand rooted in nourishment, happiness and shared family moments, which is why Ojude Oba was such a natural fit for us. The festival represents community, pride and cultural continuity, and we were proud to be part of an experience that brings people together in such a meaningful way,” she said.

As the celebrations drew to a close, attendees departed with cherished memories of cultural displays, family reunions and shared moments of happiness. For many, the spirit of Ojude Oba 2026 will remain alive until the next gathering in Ijebu-Ode, where tradition, unity and celebration will once again take centre stage.
